Ping Le Phase 2, Qiong Lai, Sichuan, China

Following on the success of phase 1, we were asked to complete a second phase of commercial mixed use development, including museum, new car parking and visitors centre in Ping Le and adjacent to the Phase 1 development.

The interesting point about the two phases, is that they triggered a whole town regeneration, not by the developers but by the towns folk themselves. This is a testament to the fact that if we provide a staring point, one that is successful and shows a positive way forward. It can be used as an exemplar to the rest of the regeneration.

In this instance, the exemplar planning went on to be remodelled and repeated in Han Cheng, Shaanxi Province, XiLai Ancient Town, Shu Jing Fang, Pixian and others. Each time we researched the local community, the client needs and provided catalyst regeneration plans, a starting point for a natural progression along the regeneration route.
