University of York, Students Union Offices
MBO Architects were invited in 2015 by the University of York to assist with creating a new Southern Gateway to the West Campus. Continuing our long relationship with the university.
Prominently sited adjacent to the main road and overlooking the Lake, it adapted, refurbished and extended existing redundant accommodation to provide a new public entrance flanking the new Student Union Office accommodation, reception and leisure facilities. Works were then extended to the adjacent Maths Department of the University of York.
The exterior of all the buildings were re-modelled with new aluminium windows and fully clad in sustainably sourced low maintenance Thermowood timber to give a striking contemporary character.
