Mickle Hill, Pickering - Residential Extra Care Retirement Community Master Plan

Planning Approval was secured for a site outside the development limits of Pickering, 

Arranged around a natural mound sheltering views of the development from surrounding areas and lines of existing hedgerow were integrated into and defined the pattern of the development and secured the support of the Planning Authority for the project for a 45 bed Care Home, 60 Close Care Apartments and 224 Care Cottages. The scheme also takes into account the medieval strip farming field patterns by retaining much of the original hedgerows and using this form within the master plan itself.

MBO has been involved in the design and development of Extra Care facilities, including EMI and Dementia, since 1990. We were the Architects for Hartrigg Oaks, the first Continuing Care Community in the UK, and have remained at the forefront of this field since.

Our experience also includes; 40 unit new-build projects; Retirement Villages of 300 units with a range of communal facilities; and the provision of extra care facilities associated with new build or refurbishment and extension of care homes. We have also secured Planning Permission for a number of projects in various planning sensitive areas, including green-belt and conservation areas.
