New Monastery.
Thicket Priory, Thorganby, Wheldrake, New Monastic Buildings in the form of a new Monastery for the Carmelite Nuns at Thorganby. Problematic Green Belt and Listed Building Approval were secured granting permission for construction within the sites existing walled garden.
The design provides segregated accommodation for 16 members of the order together with a new chapel and various visitors facilities.
The design is extremely energy efficient incorporating a sedum green roof, a ground source heat pump, solar panels, solar shading devices and an extremely highly insulated building fabric.
